The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking feedback from the public to understand how the National Training Register Enhancement Project will impact users of training.gov.au. The survey is open until 19 May, and the department encourages all regular users of the platform to take part.
What is the National Training Register Enhancement Project?
The National Training Register Enhancement Project is a significant overhaul of the National Register, training.Gov.au, which has been in place for over a decade. The infrastructure and technology behind the register are outdated, making it difficult and costly to maintain and update. The project aims to strengthen capabilities, reduce duplication, and improve infrastructure and technology, enabling the vocational education and training sector into the future.
Improvements to the National Register include:
- A new and improved training.gov.au website
- A new ‘Consultation Portal’ to facilitate training product development and assurance
- An improved ‘Training Package Content Management System’
- A new set of APIs to improve access to data for client systems
- Maintain and expand national register data items and integration with external data sources
- A more accessible VETNet National repository system (VETNet.gov.au)
- More integrated external data sources and better reporting
The National Training Register Enhancement Project is a user-centred design experience that works collaboratively with various stakeholders, including state and territory governments, regulators, and others. It is a significant step towards a more efficient and effective vocational education and training sector. Participating in the survey gives you a say in shaping the industry’s future. The project is expected to conclude in mid-2025.
